I wanted to stay beyond any specific technical design (government, private or open currency). Having a social norm of "privacy as a virtue" is just as important as specific technical design.
A few points on Bitcoin, Zcash and Monero:
1. As is increasingly well known, Bitcoin transactions are not private. Zcash and Monero are private.
2. These three currencies are volatile in euro terms - making them less practical for transactions.
Seems odd bitcoin z cash or monero didn't come up in this piece.
